The Deputy Upper East Regional Director of Health Services, James Akpablie, who made the appeal said, involving the various municipal and district assemblies in the activities of the council would encourage them to create budget lines to tackle the problem of inadequate funding for population activities, which for some time now, has been identified as one of the major challenges hampering the activities of the council. Man arrested for stealing District Assembly dustbin in Sherigu

osei joseph hughes jnrA man believed to be in his middle ages was yesterday arrested by the Bolgatanga Police for having allegedly stolen a metallic waste collection bin belonging to the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly placed at Sherigu, a suburb of Bolgatanga. The Police acted upon a tip-off and arrested Atimolga Hardi Adazana, the suspect who had allegedly transported pieces of the metallic waste bin to Yorogo-Atimolga-Bisi to further use them to manufacture holes. According to the report, the suspect who is a blacksmith, chiseled and dismantled the container and conveyed them to the place for his business. Earlier, an informant had reported the case to the Environmental officer of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly but action was delayed in trapping the suspect. It is one of the renowned colleges in the country that started in 1930 when it was known as Mary Immaculate Conception Junior Seminary under the then Reverend Father Gagnon. The name St John Bosco’s Training College, was named after the Patron Saint –John Bosco who was a saint and a friend of the youth during his life time. He was born in 1815, in a town in Northern Italy called Turin by two poor couples. His father died when he was at the age of two, leaving him, the surviving mother and the brothers in a very poor state. Due to financial difficulties his poor mother had a very tough time sending him to school though Bosco had the desire of going to school with the aim of becoming a priest. Tomato farmers in trepidation as peak season approaches

osei joseph hughes jnrTomato farmers in the upper east region are left high and dry by the northern star tomatoes factory which assured them the factory’s preparedness to purchase their product to avoid repetition of a glut, diseases and poor marketing of their products which lead to many farmers committing suicide the previous years. According to the farmers the factory assured them ready market so in order to meet the requirement of the factory most of the them secured loans from the banks to farm in a large scale they said, they were left stranded with their tomatoes when the factory could not purchase their product which lead many of them to commit suicide due to the large tomato glut. Information gathered reveals that, Northern Star Tomato Factory has so far been financed to be able to purchase the produce of the farmers in the region, but signs show pessimism that this year’s story will be different as nothing shows that it will be able to operate fully as a factory as at the t...
