Chinese presence in Africa misconstrued by Africa and western media
The allegation of Chinese involvement in illegal mining has reached an alarming rate. This has resulted into a huge misconception about Chinese in Ghana. The truth is that there is no Chinese doing illegal (galamsey) in Ghana. Is a misconception created by people who see the Chinese as a threat to their business in Africa. Because China provides affordable services and products to the middle and lower class who cannot afford the expensive western products, the westerns feel challenge and have resulted to using the media and other strategies to create animosity between China and Ghana (Africa).
