The Minister of trade and industries, Hon Hannah Tetteh who was on a working visit to the northern star Tomatoes factory during her visit to facilities under her ministry in the upper east region seize the recorder of the joy fm reporter, the tape of Metro TV and GTV who had her on tape after dispensing statement on the managing director of the factory and the previous government.
The minister, who was not satisfied with the setup of the factory, said the revamping of the factor is the most useless investment made by the New Patriotic Party’s government and said is a Financial lost to the state and apology of investment after the previous administration has spent about 5.8 million dollars in the rehabilitation process. She said, with her little knowledge after working in factories for so many years, the Northern Star Tomatoes Factory does not meat Ghana standard board requirement and a standard of a factory and call for full investigation into it.

The upper east regional minister who was not upbeat about the Trade minister’s behavior and statements has to come in to put her on track. According to Hon Mark Woyongo last year some farmers have to commit suicide because the factory promise ready market for the farmers but was not able to buy the tomatoes which led to rampant tomatoes glut. He then pleaded that these statements can jeopardize the hopes of farmers who have taking loans to produce in large quantities this year to sell to the factory.
