Thieves raid NPP Kwabre West office; pink sheets, documents stolen

On Wednesday night, thieves broke into New Patriotic Party (NPP) offices in the Kwabre West Constituency and made away with a number of items.

The stolen items included 106 cell phones, photocopies of polling centre pink sheets used in the 2012 elections, two Samsung digital cameras, files containing copies of constituency collated results of the 2012 elections and other confidential files.

NPP Constituency Chairman Odeneho Kwaku Appiah told the Ghana News Agency that a report had been made to the Kodie Police, whose offices are just behind the party’s office.

He said he received information on Thursday morning about the incident and rushed to the office to confirm the report.

Odeneho Appiah said that even though he does not know motive behind the theft, he cannot rule out sabotage.

He appealed to members of the community to help the police by providing the needed information that might lead to the arrest of those behind the theft.

A source at the Kodie Police station confirmed the theft and said it occurred on Wednesday night.

He said the police had begun investigations into the case and called on residents to help by providing them with any pertinent information.
