CALM RETURNS TO NAKPANDURI
Calm
has return to Nakpanduri Township in the northern region after two tribes,
Bimobas and Konkombas clash. One person
was killed and several houses were set ablaze, residents fled the town for
safety. It is however unclear what triggered the sporadic shooting which
started in the early hours of Wednesday, but residents believe the protracted land
and chieftaincy issue might have triggered it.
This
morning, seven policemen are reported to have been injured in the process, the
Assemblyman of the area Duut Daniel tells Ultimate Radio, although the police
presence cannot be felt, the town is calm.
Meanwhile
the district police commander, ASP Michael Zaa has refuted claims by the residents that the
police are not on the ground, he also said almost all the houses belonging to
Konkombas has been razed down.
