Asantehene bemoans over concentration of businesses in Accra
by joseph osei
The Asantehene, Otufour Osei Tutu ii
has expressed worry over the concentration of businesses in the national
capital, Accra. He believes the concentration of the entire government
machinery in Accra has compelled the private sector to follow suit; a situation
he believes has resulted in the uneven growth pattern of the country. Otumfour
also caution negative elements in the Micro finance sector whose actions have
dwindle the public interest in the microfinancing. According to Otumfour these
companies takes undue advantage of the vulnerability of the masses. The
Otumfour has therefore charge the bank of Ghana to maintain its supervisory
functions to bring to fall ethical elements in micro financing. He was speaking
at a ceremony to launch the Sinapi Aba trust bank in Kumasi. He also commended
managers of Sinapi Aba for making Kumasi the operational headquarters of the
Bank.
The Board Chairman of Sinapa Aba Rev.
Davis Freeman assured the public of the banks preparedness to build the
capacities of individuals and businesses in the country. He said much of their
services are concentrated where most financial companies are afraid to venture.
